Former Chelsea star Oscar has revealed his advice to Mason Mount as Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool plot moves for the England midfielder.
Mount's lengthy stay at Stamford Bridge may be coming to an end as several Premier League clubs compete for his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been at Chelsea for nearly two decades – first as an academy player and, over the last four seasons, as a key member of the first team, making 195 appearances in all competitions.
Several Chelsea managers have relied heavily on Mount but his future in west London is far from certain with only 12 months remaining on his contract.
There is still a possibility that Mount commits to his long-term future at Chelsea and decides to stay under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, but he has no shortage of suitors should he choose to move on in the summer.
It has been reported this week that Manchester United are preparing a £55m bid for the midfielder as they are looking to beat Arsenal and Liverpool to reach a deal.
Asked about Mount's future at Stamford Bridge, former Chelsea player Oscar told talkSPORT: “I think when you have a difficult season, not only for Mount but for the team, it's difficult to talk about the players.
'When you have a difficult season, a lot of people think that the players don't deserve to stay in the team anymore.
‘But I think Chelsea have a lot of good young players. Sometimes it's better to keep this player and see if the coach wants this player for the team. Maybe he [Mount] can get back to playing at the level he can play at.
‘Of course, he wants to play and he wants to play more. I think if he's not happy at Chelsea, sometimes it's better to look for another team. If he is still happy and if he wants to try and be a great player at Chelsea he has to stay.’
Mount has struggled this season but perhaps that is not surprising considering Chelsea have endured their worst season for several years, slipping to 12th in the Premier League.
Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter were both sacked during the 2022-23 season but Chelsea's woes have continued under caretaker manager Frank Lampard.
The Blues visit Manchester United on Thursday night before taking on Newcastle United on the final day of the season this weekend.
